To share my passion and give you the skills and confidence to be creative in print. A lot of what you learn here you can take away and practice at home. The joy of that “peal and reveal” moment when you see your first print from the print block you made can’t be counted in money terms.
Skirrid Print Studio started in a shed in my Abergavenny garden in 2015, after I’d taken ownership of a small etching press. I had no experience of printmaking, nor had I established myself as an artist, but I made up for lost time with my prolific output. When I moved with my family to Longtown in the Welsh marches the dilapidated annexe to my new home was crying out for renovation and I felt this was a chance to share my good fortune and go public.
The studio is a cosy space and for that reason group sizes will never go beyond 5 or 6 people; certainly, during the Covid-19 pandemic, I will be limiting teaching to 1:1 or 2:1 and using my time to develop my own prints for sale on my ever-growing Etsy shop and continue exploring landscape painting.
